What Lies Beyond Language

What Lies Beyond Language Acquisition

In recent years we learn that a lot of Japanese citizens are injured or killed in foreign countries as the number of Japanese travelling abroad is increasing every year.
And means of communication is also multiplied through the Internet, emails, and through such international games as Secondlife. It is nowadays not impossible to aquire a linguistic skill of speaking or writing in a foreign language in a short time.
So I am not against travelling abroad with a group of people or even alone.
However foreign countries are not like Japan, where it is still not too dangerous for young girls to walk about on city street at night. Outside Japan, it is dangerous to take a walk at night. I sometimes hear Japanese girls injured or killed in foreign countries.
They go abroad to realize their dream of learning to speak English and living in an English-speaking country. I can understand what they must have thought of in their mind.
They must have thought;
1) I would like to speak in English.
2) I would like to marry a Westerner and give birth to a blue-eyed baby.
3) I would like to live in an English speaking country where I can lead a life completely different from that of Japan.
These are not things that cannot be realized at all.
The reason is obvious; a lot of Westerners like black hair ladies from Japan.
I know of a couple of my friends who married Americans. They were very good at speaking English besides being pretty girls. But becoming fond of each other does not require that you can speak English or any other foreign language well enough. Often it relies upon idiosyncrasies or personal characters of each person, so you cannot say language is the most important factor to create partners who would turn into a married couple in the future.
Well I spoke of something a little too far, but there are expressions we as players
of Secondlife should be careful about.
School teachers never teach us that some of the expressions are risky in our using of them.
1) I know him. I know her.
It is advised that we should say; I am acquainted with him. I am acquainted with her.
2) He is somebody special to me. = He is my lover.
3) boyfriend/ girlfriend is not a friend but somebody you are in love with.

In my conclusion, I would like to say;
there are a lot of matters which lie beyond acquisition of language.
